Air Aware.
September - December. 2015
Concept.
Confidence is respondent to the behaviors of the body. When you slouch, you close off your body, feel less significant, insecure and smaller; when you open your chest and lift your shoulders, however, you feel larger, more powerful, and more capable. Unfortunately, we are not always aware of the way we carry our body, and how an
audience perceives you and what you say can be quite different from your own perception of self. Air-Aware is a product that attaches to the user’s stable spine, to be worn under clothing and without exposure to an audience.
As the user closes off their body by slouching their shoulders, a filter releases air into the palms of their hands, a quiet and subtle suggestion to improve their posture. Once the posture improves, the filter shuts off.

This project required the design and construction of a physical and functional prototype of the Air Aware, as well as technical drawings to support and explain the inner mechanics of the design.
