Balancing Block.
August - December. 2012
New York. New York
New York City is the quintessence of urbanism. The people, the buildings, the transit, the courtyards, the parks, the restaurants, the retail, and the cultural centers are what make the city what it is. It is an organized chaos, a balance of systems and structure. We approached this project, pulling directly from the site within which the program sits, as a manifestation of that idea. The project appears to be balancing unto itself, and the spaces within offer residents the opportunity for privacy and residency as equally as they offer social interaction and activity.

Pitch
The project included research and visitation to the site, the design and build of a physical model, as well as the presentation and pitch of the idea, including drawings, diagrams, and process work to illustrate views, maneuverable facade, program placement, light, and circulation.
