Nomads in Utopia.
March - May. 2015
Austin. Texas
Work can be defined in any number of ways, and in the future, the distinction between work and leisure will grow increasingly opaque, as will the parameters of a "work space." Work will be driven by the individual, by their timelines, by their methods, by their values, and by their interactions. The workspace must, therefore, be responsive to the worker, flexible in its organizational strategy, and adaptive in its physical offerings. Nomads in Utopia is a design consultancy group that was formed to capture opportunity in the work environment, from the strategies employed upon the workers to the physical design of the space itself. Through a case study involving the revitalization of an abandoned corporate campus in Texas, the project illustrates the ultimate "hackable" system.

The project included the design and build of a physical strategy model, a prototype of the Hackable Stackable, a Hackable Stackable User Manual, a campus advertisement brochure, as well as the presentation and pitch of the design consultancy company "Nomads in Utopia," using an abandoned Austin campus as a case study.
